
Okinawa Living Magazine
Okinawa Living is the go-to guide to inform the military and civilian community about events and programs offered by MCCS as well as provide unique and interesting content about Japanese culture. It mainly targets readers ages 20–40 with families, though it is read by single service members and citizens of the local community as well.
I approached every layout with the intention of creating a design to reflect the story content. To do this, I used many different typefaces and styles while maintaining an organized and generally clean composition. In keeping with the brand, I used primarily photo-driven covers, but I added vector accents that pertained to the stories. For the Staff Favorites logo I created to brand the reoccurring feature, I crafted a bold ribbon mark that was simple enough that it could be incorporated in any design style each artist chose and used Okinawa Living’s brand typefaces: Arno Pro and Aileron.
