I chose a burst background of reds and blues as the main design element for the 2021 event because of the movement and energy it created. This background was also perfect for drawing the eye to specific aspects of any design in which it was used. CC Smash and Classic Comic were obvious typeface choices as they have strong roots in comic book typography, and I paired them with Kozuka Gothic Pr6N to set the Japanese copy. I used speech bubbles, halftones, and comic bursts to contain text and other content as a nod to the logo and the comic world as a whole.
